Audience : Military physicians that possibly will participate in PSO, be it within their units or as Force medical officer. In this first course a maximum of 20 students seems to be reasonable.
Course objective
Main objective : Enable military physicians to organize all necessary measures prior to deployment of military units
Subsidiary objectives : - Learn to identify health risks related to any envisaged mission - Learn to organize and conduct preventive measures and medical planning related do identified health risks - Learn to evaluate measures taken related to defined objectives

Characteristics and importance of conducting preventive measures before deployment - Vector borne diseases - STDs - Field hygiene
Afternoon Syndicate work, groups of 5 participants First part 2,5 hrs: Syndicates assess health risks and propose appropriate measures for a military unit prior to deployment;. Syndicates deal with specific and realistic scenarios. The Medical Intelligence unit can be tasked to respond to requests for information. Second part 1,5 hrs: Results of syndicate work are presented orally by each group with talks of 10 to 15 minutes followed by comments and questions.
